Accessibility Statement

This statement was prepared on 17 July 2026 and will be reviewed as accessibility testing progresses and at least annually thereafter.

FONA TECHNOLOGIES LTD is committed to making the FONA app and the FONA website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device, or connection. Staying connected with family should not depend on perfect eyesight, fine motor control, or a fast network — accessibility is part of what FONA is for.

What web accessibility is

An accessible site allows visitors with disabilities to browse the site with the same or a similar level of ease and enjoyment as other visitors. This can be achieved with the capabilities of the system on which the site is operating, and through assistive technologies.

Our standard

We aim to conform to the **Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA**, and to follow the accessibility guidance published by Apple (iOS) and Google (Android) for native mobile apps.

What we have designed for

  • Screen reader support — the app is built to work with VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android), with labelled buttons, controls, and navigation elements.

  • Text sizing — the app respects your device's system text-size settings (Dynamic Type on iOS, font scaling on Android), so text grows with your preferences.

  • Colour and contrast — our dark interface uses white text on deep navy backgrounds, designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed.

  • Touch targets — buttons and interactive elements are sized and spaced for comfortable use, including for users with limited dexterity.

  • Captions and alternatives — icons carry text labels, and images on the website include alternative text.

  • Low-bandwidth design — FONA is engineered for 2G and low-connectivity environments, which also benefits users of older and assistive devices.

  • Keyboard navigation — the website can be navigated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse.

Known limitations

FONA is a newly launched service and accessibility testing is ongoing. We are aware of the following areas still under review:

 

- Full screen-reader labelling of the in-call screen is being verified across device types.

- Some third-party content (such as app store badges and embedded payment forms provided by our payment processor) is outside our direct control; we work with providers who maintain their own accessibility standards.

- Formal independent WCAG 2.2 AA audit has not yet been completed. We intend to complete accessibility testing as part of our launch programme and will update this statement with the results.

If you find any part of the FONA app or website difficult to use, or if you need information from us in a different format, please tell us — we treat accessibility reports as priority issues.

Enforcement and further help

If you contact us with an accessibility concern and are not satisfied with our response, you may raise the matter with the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which supports the Equality Act 2010 in England, Scotland and Wales.
